21 Days of Prayer & Fasting 2019

DAY ONE: DAY OF NEW THINGS Isaiah 43:19 NIV “I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” This verse has always been my “go to” verse when venturing into a new thing. It gives me comfort knowing that no matter the terrain or unknown I am walking into, God has already made a way. It reminds me that He will cause springs of provision to rise up and provide for all my needs during the season. As you are praying with us, think about the season you are walking into. Do you believe that springs of provision are already being prepared? Believe that God will make a way through any season.

DAY TWO: FEAR OF GOD Proverbs 14:26 ESV “In the fear of the Lord one has strong confidence…” It’s amazing the difference between healthy fear and unhealthy fear. Unhealthy fear will make you feel unsure of yourself and timid. When you fear God, you don’t become timid or scared… You become confident. When you fear God, you aren’t afraid of Him, you are afraid to be away from Him. It stems from a deeply rooted love for Him and confidence in His love for us. Are there any areas in your life that you need to apply the fear of God to? Area that you need to remind yourself that He is much bigger than whatever you are facing?

DAY THREE: LOVE OF GOD 1 John 4:19 NIV “We love because He first loved us.” How amazing is the love of God! I often find that we can forget how great His love is for us. A favourite quote, “Those who cannot forgive, are those who have forgotten what they have been forgiven of.” I think this can be also true of love. That those who cannot love, are those who have forgotten the unending love they have been shown. Too many times, I find myself in situations where I am not loving people as Jesus would. If we don’t show the love of the Father to people, some may never experience it. We challenge you to show the love of God to someone today.

DAY FOUR: WALK THE WALK 2 Timothy 2:17 MSG “Words are not mere words, you know. If they’re not backed by a godly life, they accumulate as poison in the soul.” We can’t afford to just say that we are christians but not act it out. When looking at a tree, you know it’s a good tree by observing the fruit that it produces. You don’t need to drill into the centre of the tree and look at the heart to figure that out. You just look at the fruit. Our fruit should reflect our identity as sons and daughters of God. If you were a tree, what kind of fruit would the world see? What kind of fruit do you want to see in your life?

DAY FIVE: CONFIDENCE IN GOD 1 John 3:21-22 NIV “Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God and receive from Him anything we ask, because we keep His commands and do what pleases Him.” Do you find confidence resting in God? When we were kids, our dad told us that there was nothing we could do that would make him love us more or any less. BUT he also said, “You are in control of how pleased we are with you.” This showed us a glimpse of the Father’s heart. As we do things that please Him, His love for us doesn’t grow or diminish, but we grow in the confidence of knowing that what we ask for we will receive, because we keep His commands and do what pleases Him.

DAY SIX: WONDERFULLY MADE Psalm 139:14 NIV “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made” The Creator of the universe took the time to not only create you with His hands, but to make you fearfully and wonderfully. By these words, we are set apart from all of God’s other creations. The Lord of ALL sees you and knows you as His wonderful creation. Let us praise Him, the one who knows the very depth of our being and loves us evermore. Do you believe that you are made wonderfully and in the image of God? Speak that truth over yourself today.

Hebrews 12:1-2 NIV “…let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before Him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Runners don’t let anything that could cause them to slow down enter their mind. As spiritual runners, we cannot afford to be weighed down by sin. We must keep our eyes on Jesus, our eternal finish line. What could be causing you to slow down on this race? Are your eyes fixed on the true prize?

DAY EIGHT: SET YOUR MIND Romans 8:6 ESV “For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.” Where are you allowing your understanding of the world to steal the life and peace that God has set apart specifically for you? Always have your eyes and mind fixed on the things of God. Wherever your gaze is fixed, that is where your heart will veer to.

DAY NINE: ALL THE DAYS OF MY LIFE Psalm 27:4 NIV “One thing I ask from the LORD, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and to seek Him in His temple.” How often do we seek to ONLY dwell in the house of the Lord? It is hard to ask for just this ONE thing. We can get so caught up in asking for things in our lives that are good things, but are centred around us. We must be careful that we do not forget the most important thing: His presence. Today we challenge you to pray the verse above and really think about what it means.

DAY TEN: FORGIVEN Colossians 3:13 NLT “Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.” Forgive as you have been forgiven. This is easier said than done, but we know it’s possible because the Word of God says so. Take time today to remember the grace and forgiveness you have been shown by The Lord. How can you extend that same grace and forgiveness to someone today?

DAY ELEVEN: GOD’S WHISPER Romans 8:16 TPT “For the Holy Spirit makes God’s fatherhood real to us as He whispers into our innermost being, “You are God’s beloved child!”” In a world where we are constantly blasted with information and opinions, how do we position ourselves to hear this whisper? How do we truly remember that we are God’s beloved child? Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal this truth to you today in a new way. The Word tells us that the Holy Spirit makes God’s fatherhood real to us. When we ask, He will whisper into our innermost being.

DAY TWELVE: FOR CHRIST’S SAKE Phillipians 3:8 ESV “For Christ’s sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish.” What “rubbish” do you need to leave behind today?

DAY THIRTEEN: GLORIFY HIS NAME Psalm 86:9 NIV “All the nations You have made shall come and worship before You, O Lord, and shall glorify your name.” What does it look like for you, in your world and life, to glorify His name?

DAY FOURTEEN: MADE HOLY Romans 12:1-2 NIV “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will.” How do you discern God’s will for your life [or] How are made holy?

DAY FIFTEEN: FACE TO FACE 1 Corinthians 13:12 NIV “For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.” Every person on earth only knows in part. What has God entrusted you to know and see?

DAY SIXTEEN: CREATION Job 38:4 NIV “Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation? Tell me, if you understand.” Did you know that you can find parts of the creation story in the book of Job? Most people only think of Job as a story about suffering, but it’s actually so much more! In the final chapters, you see God asking Job questions around how creation took place. It amazes me how God can show the beauty of creation through a story of suffering. God wants to do the same with your life. He wants to take the broken things and re-create them into beauty.

DAY SEVENTEEN: PEACE Romans 5:1 NIV “Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Faith is not just believing in God, but also believing His promises. If you have faith in God, you can stand firm knowing that through anything you are promised peace.

DAY EIGHTEEN: RIGHTEOUSNESS 2 Corinthians 5:21 ESV “For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God” I LOVE THIS VERSE! It talks about how He made it possible for reconciliation between us and Him. But the key is understanding that the righteousness does not come from us, and comes from God. And because of that, we walk in the free gift given to us. We walk in righteousness, not to look down on others, but to raise them up and point them to the same free gift of righteousness.

DAY NINETEEN: EVERY TEAR Psalm 56:8 ESV “You have kept count of my tossing’s; put my tears in your bottle.” I love this imagery. There is no question that God is intimate within our pain. He is mindful of our hardships and every tear that falls. He doesn’t overlook our pain or suffering. Remember today that we serve a God who sees you and loves you through it all.

DAY TWENTY: FRUITS OF THE SPIRIT Galations 5:22-23 TPT “But the fruit produced by the Holy Spirit within you is divine love in all its varied expressions: joy that overflows, peace that subdues, patience that endures, kindness in action, a life full of virtue, faith that prevails, gentleness of heart, and strength of spirit. Never set the law above these qualities, for they are meant to be limitless” As we continue these 21 days of prayer, what fruits of the spirit do you need to grow in? Pray and ask God to grow you in that specific area. We are called to be sons and daughters walking in joy, peace, patience, kindness, virtue, faith, gentleness and strength.

DAY TWENTY-ONE: THE BEGINNING OF SEPARATION Romans 8:19 TPT “The entire universe is standing on tiptoe, yearning to see the unveiling of God’s glorious sons and daughters!” We are believing that day is coming. The day when the entire world can’t help but stand in anticipation for what God is doing through His sons and daughters. When we begin to separate ourselves from the world and reject societal norms and embrace the call that God has placed upon our lives. As we begin to live within that day, our light will shine out so bright that the world will not be able to deny that God is the ONE TRUE GOD. ARE YOU READY FOR TOMORROW
